The potential of having your children take classes at home again this fall is proportional to the headaches it causes to parents. You probably already had a small taste of this last spring after students were sent home because of the pandemic. If youre again setting up home classes with your kids just in case schools dont reopen fully these home education tips will come handy. Some of them are about keeping your home clean and tidy but others are about creativity and new ideas to keep your classes fresh (and your kids happy and focused hopefully).

Want to know how to homeschool a child. Keep reading this blog!

Designate a learning space

To keep your students happy (and your sanity safe) set the rules of homeschooling. Start by designating a classroom ideally not the living room or any other area that has distractions. Even if you end up teaching in the kitchen and your kids learning on the dining table its best to organize everything in one place.

Set cleaning schedules and goals

Setting a homeschooling routine has many benefits like creating a lasting habit and making it easy to clean and tidy up. But routines can be hard to build up especially with small children that get bored annoyed or distracted. Try different types of routines and observe your kids behavior. Choose the schedule that better suits your cleaning chores and the students learning habits. Also teach your kids the cleaning tasks and they will do their part.

Buy tools and equipment that motivate

If youre having problems with your kids having to take classes at home maybe its time for a little investment. Although comfortable chairs desk and bookcase are useful try to stay creative and think of what will stimulate your children more. A bulletin board blackboard play area rug and lots of paper and colors will build the ideal environment for learning. See what keeps your children motivated and use all these new devices to keep the brain work flowing and attention at full. Most of the days this could work but remember to be patient!

Color code learning

Without the help of teachers at help youre going to have to help your kids distinguish between topics and classes at home. Especially for lower elementary grades color coding can mean a big difference. You can choose a color for each topic and apply it to every book notebook and paper organizers around the home. This will give your classes a more sensory experience ideal for kids.

Take the class outside

2020 will be remembered as the year of school at home and outdoor schooling also. Taking classes in different and more spacious locations is a safe measure many schools will implement. For you and your kids this activity has more to do with maintaining the classes fun and dynamic. Take the books or laptop you need but most importantly your energy and creativity. Take advantage of your surrounding and fresh air and combine the class with some stretches physical activity or sightseeing.

Apply the school topics to home chores

As mentioned above one of the best advantages of homeschooling is the flexibility to translate traditional classes into different settings and activities. Combine the topics with daily activities and physical exercises like playing board games writing emails household tasks like laundering or budgeting visiting parks or going shopping to the farmers market. Try to do at least once a week to keep your classes fresh and your kids motivation up.

These distance-learning tips will help you maintain your home tidy and clean during your classes at home if the need arises again. However if you need extra help with your home duties book a cleaning and disinfecting service with Tailor Maid Services.

Summer is here! And while the Texas government is planning to re-open public swimming pools and water parks many residents are concern about the current pandemic. Water parks safety is crucial right now. Thats why we wrote this blog gathering some of the most important measuresaccording to the Center for Disease Control (CDC)any Texas swimming pool and waterpark should apply to ensure the welfare of its visitors.

Of course you have to do your own: wear your face mask practice social distancing bring your own towel if you like and follow the preventive measures inside the facility.

Trained and protected staff

Like any other business the water park you visit should have all their team trained and wearing the proper protection items like face masks. Also they must follow a strict protocol to guide the swimmers through the safest way possible.

Essential supplies

As you may know soap hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol) paper towels and no-touch trash cans are necessary to avoid COVID-19 in any public site. Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquettelike sneezing under the elbowmust be rules that are easy to follow for everyone.

Signs and messages

Besides the general guidelines about washing hands and facemask use your waterpark must use visible signs to guide you through the right process to stay safe inside the facility. The CDC encourages these kinds of businesses to communicate the best way to use the pools bathrooms breakrooms and other communal spaces.

Proper assignment of duties

Waterparks are encouraged to instruct some of their staff to monitor the preventive measures but team members like lifeguards are not meant to follow this line of action. Look for the staff that can help you with COVID-19 matters.

Physical barriers

For communal spaces the CDC advises the use of physical barriers or modified layouts to separate people and ensure social distancing. The fence can be as sophisticated as plastic and transparent walls to minimal as lane lines or tape on the decks.

Staggered use of communal spaces

According to the Texas government indoor and outdoor waterparks must operate up to 50% of their capacity. Also they are encouraged to stagger the number of staff members working at the same time and even the swimmers that occupy a pool. Every park will have its own unique measures at this point depending on the spaces.

Dont wear a facemask in the water

Although face-covering is critical to avoid the virus wearing them while being in the water can lead to difficulty breathing.

Ventilation

Look for waterparks that have proper ventilation. Letting fresh outdoor air circulate through the park is a good measure that can lower the virus spreading.

Frequent disinfection protocols

Of course waterparks and all workspaces and businesses must follow strict disinfection protocols to ensure the safety of their employees and visitors. Frequently touched surfaces like door handles or doorknobs faucets and railing must be appropriately disinfected several times throughout the day among other cleaning measures.

Once you research if your water park is following these essential measures you can have some fun with a calmer mind. Remember that if you need a home cleaning and disinfecting service Tailor Maid Services is the company that you need to call. Book your service on our website.

Now that we spend more time indoors probably at home with all the family your bathroom(s) might need a little extra care. Wet towels on the bathroom door toothpaste glued in the sink: the usual. But during this current lockdown a cleaned and disinfected bathroom is crucial to prevent COVID-19 and gain some precious peace of mind at home.

Tailor Maid Cleaning will show you how to clean your bathroom the best way. We usually use mild or natural disinfectants but you can opt to use stronger ones if you want to.

Toilet

Clean: To begin clean your toilet from the outside in. Add your favorite toilet bowl cleaner just below the rim. Let it sit while you work on the rest of the toilet. With a multi-purpose cleaner spray the whole outside. Scrub everything from the top down including the hinges at the base. Finally clean the inside of the rim and work downward wiping the remainder of the bowl. Flush.

Maintain: To keep your toilet fresh during deep cleaning try DIY Fizzy Toilet Bombs. Not only will they help loosen the soil but it will help keep your toilet smelling fresh!

Shower/Bath

Clean: To clean your shower remove everything from the shower including the curtain and liner. Secondly add one-part vinegar to one-part water to a baggie then place it over the showerhead and secure it tightly. Thirdly spray your favorite cleaner all over the shower and tub then let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Fourthly use your preferred sponge or a Magic Eraser to clean away the grime. Finally remove the baggie from the showerhead and rinse the whole shower and tub clean.

Maintain: To prevent the buildup of soap scum and mildew use a thin layer of car wax on the walls. DO NOT apply wax to the tub to prevent slipping. For the shower door apply Rain-X according to the directions on the bottle.

Sink amp; Counter

Clean: Clear all objects around and off the counter and sink. To clean sprinkle baking soda on the faucet handles basin and counters. Next spray the sink and counters with vinegar and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. After waiting take an old toothbrush and scrub hard-to-reach spaces and built-up areas well. Wipe away dirt and grime with paper towels or microfiber cloths.

Maintain: To keep the sink and counters clean and organized practice wiping the sink after each use. Organizers such as the Toothbrush Sanitizer amp; Toothpaste Holder help to maintain and organize hygiene. Over-the-door shoe organizers also double as placeholders for hairdryers brushes hair products etc. To keep the faucet shiny and spotless apply a thin coat of metal polish with a microfiber cloth.

Floor amp; Rugs

Clean: Start by removing everything from the floor. For a thorough clean sweep your floor with a rubber broom to catch dirt dust hair and other well-hidden objects. Next mop the floor with a flat mop for better accessibility. Then start mopping from the furthest corner of the floor to the door. Let dry. Wash rugs regularly.

Maintain: To keep the floor clean keep a Swiffer Sweep and Vac in the bathroom for quick pickups. Also hang bath rugs up after each use and wash frequently. To discourage mold and mustiness try using a heated drying rack.

Mirror

Clean: Start cleaning your mirror by taking some cotton balls or microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol and spot clean stuck-on grime and stubborn dirt. Next use a vinegar spray to clean the mirror and wipe dry with microfiber cloths.

Maintain: To prevent fogging and smudging apply Rain-X to the mirror and reapply when water droplets stop beading. After taking a shower or bath pat the mirror dry with paper towels.

Walls amp; Ceiling

Clean: If you have anything hanging on your walls take them down. Use a microfiber broom to wipe away the dust and cobwebs. With a Magic Eraser sponge remove any stubborn marks and stains. Next mop the walls with a wet Swiffer or microfiber mop. Let dry before replacing any hangings.

Maintain: To keep the walls and ceiling clean always use the bathroom fan for proper ventilation. Routinely check for water stains and signs of mold. Consider placing a moisture absorbing product in your bathroom to eliminate extra moisture buildup.

There you go! These essential guidelines will help you maintain your bathroom at top shape during the lockdown. But if you need some extra help or want a professional disinfecting job dont hesitate to book your cleaning service with us.

The last thing anyone wants is to be sick. When the flu comes around it seems almost inevitable to avoid the upper respiratory virus. However there are ways to prevent the virus and steps you can take to minimize the spread of the sickness during an outbreak. Tailor Maid Cleaning will show you the difference between cleaning and disinfecting.

Prevention

Knowledge is power. Before you buy the whole pharmacy know what the flu is and how to prevent it first. The flu is a contagious upper respiratory infection. The elderly young children and those with medical conditions are at a higher risk for serious complications. Look out for fever or feverish chills a cough sore throat a runny or stuffy nose muscle or body aches headaches fatigue vomiting and/or diarrhea. To prevent the flu:

Avoid close contact with people whether youre the one whos sick or not.

Cover your mouth and nose with your arm or a tissue when you cough or sneeze then wash your hands and throw the tissue away.

Frequently wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

Clean and disinfect all surfaces.

Get the flu shot vaccination yearly.

Avoid touching your eyes nose and mouth.

Quarantine the sick.

The CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care

At Home

Disinfecting should be part of your usual cleaning routine whether or not anyone at home is sick says Lisa Fields of WebMD. The lead method of spreading the flu virus is through droplets of moisture from coughing sneezing or talking. The flu can also be spread by touching any surface with the flu virus on it. To avoid further contamination at home disinfect the house after flu by making sure the following items are routinely disinfected but especially if someone in the home is sick with the flu.

Phone

Remote

Bathroom

Tables

Computer/Tablet/Handheld Game Devices

Toys

Knobs and Handles

Light Switches

Sheets Blankets and Towels

Hand Railings

At the Office

Its a difficult decision to make when: youre sick but need to go to work and it may not be feasible to call in. However people with the flu virus are more contagious in the first 3-4 days of being sick. Also keep in mind that the flu virus can live in a person without them having symptoms and still be contagious. So when you are at work take these precautions:

Keep hand sanitizer on your desk.

Wipe down the arms of chairs the edges and top of your desk and computer keyboard and mouse with disinfecting wipes.

Avoid the breakroom/company kitchen.

Avoid sharing food and drinks.

Clean the phone and headset with disinfecting wipes.

Most importantly stay home if you are sick!

Better safe than sorry according to Samuel Lover the Irish Novelist. In our overpopulated society its important to be aware of the space around youof the air you breathe and share. Its especially beneficial to you and others to sanitize frequently during flu outbreaks. Moreover with this list youll be ahead of the game!

There comes a time when you realize that a junk drawer closet room shed and junk storage unit just might mean you need to spring-clean your home. Clutter is a reflection of the chaos you feel and experience in life. Being organized means spending less time looking for or replacing lost items and increasing your productivity says Natalie Schrier CEO of Cut the Clutter. With these four easy steps let Tailor Maid Services share with you these spring cleaning tips!

Step 1: Have a Plan

As with a large project its important to have a plan in place. A plan helps you keep track of your progress while simultaneously becoming more efficient. With a plan make sure to include obtainable goals you wish to accomplish.

Step 2: Set Goals

Regardless of your plan you must set goals for yourself. Without having a plan and a goal to achieve you will either start decluttering and then put it off or you will just shift your mess around the house without achieving any progress.

Step 3: Break Big Tasks Down

When faced with an overwhelming project its important not to tackle the beast all at once. The best way to handle big projects is to break them down into smaller sections. When decluttering your home use these categories: kitchen bathroom living room bedroom laundry room and home office. Consider including friends and family as part of your crew to avoid unnecessary stress.

Step 4: Organize

Now that youre ready grab trash bags boxes bags and/or totes for donations friends amp; family and things being kept. Consider the following list as a guide for what to declutter:

Throw Out/Recycle/Replace

Expired medicine and vitamins

Matchless socks

Broken art supplies

Storage containers without lids

Old papers

Greeting cards

Broken appliances

Expired food

Old beauty and hygiene products

Stained and/or holey clothes

Stained linens

Keep

Financial documents

Insurance papers

Warranties

Diplomas

Other

Stuff you truly love!

Give Away

Stuff you dont love!

CDs

DVDs

VHS

Clothes that dont fit are worn or you dont like

Old books

Books you dont read

Old shoes

Extra hangers

Un-played with toys

Throw Out/Recycle/Replace

Apps for Organizing:

Its 5 pm. Youve scheduled appointments managed all the vendors scheduled meetings ordered supplies listened to staff managed schedules regulated office operations and somehow created the best presentation your boss has ever seen. The last thing you want to do is make the office clean and tidy but its part of your job description as an office manager. Just as you begin you grab two straggling employees to aid in your crusade.

Tailor Maid Cleaning will show you the top missed areas in your office when cleaning and what to clean at work. Of course you can avoid all this by just getting a professional cleaning team to work in your office.

Keyboard amp; Computer

Whether you work at a private workstation or share a unit the keyboard and computer is an actively used piece of office equipment that is easily soiled. We take for granted the little cough a slight sneeze crumbs from a snack or just multiple hands touching the keysyou dont know where those hands have been. Its important to disinfect the keyboard mouse monitor and all touchable parts daily.

Office Phone

Again the office phones are potentially handled by many people throughout the day. Even if handled by few phones are carriers for infections. Its important to clean not only the handle but also the earpiece and the receiver. The more an object is touched the more its likely to contain germs.

Doors

In a place of business doors are the gateway to your place of operations. Its also a breeding ground for fingerprints food soil grime and other germs. Its essential to clean the door thoroughly to prevent the spread of infections. Also make sure to dust the ledge above the door. This is an easy-to-forget area but the accumulation of dust will only agitate allergies in the workplace and ultimately spread germs.

Kitchen Appliances

The staff break room should be the responsibility of the whole office and this is the responsibility of the office manager to see that its done. However there are a few items that might get overlooked. When cleaning the microwave make sure to also clean the input pad the handle and the door. The same thing goes for the refrigerator and toaster oven. The sink and sink handles should also be properly free of germs. Dust frequently on top of any cabinets and large appliances to keep down allergens.

Large Objects

To prevent unnecessary sneezing and coughing dusting should be part of your daily regime. An area frequently missed is on top of large objects. Dust and dirt often accumulated behind large furniture therefore its important to keep these areas clean. Make sure to have assistance when moving heavy items.

Chairs

Whether you share your office chair with another shift or have it all to yourself you should sanitize the arms back and seat daily. Plastic and cloth can hold all sorts of germs and could become a breeding ground for more serious bacteria. Tailor Maid Cleaning recommends keeping hand sanitizer and a box of tissue at your desk at all times to reduce the spread of germs and the risk of sickness.

It is 6 pm. The office smells like lemons and orange with a hint of bleach. Your back aches a little but you cant deny that you run the cleanest most efficient office in the building. You thank your staff as you follow them out the door. As you look back you smile at the Business of the Year award sticker on the glass pane and know that every day is worth this moment.
